Whatever the size needles and yarn in your Crafty Dog Knitting Kit, this pattern is for you!!
Cast on 15 stitches.
Rows 1-3: knit
Row 4: Knit 3, purl 9, knit 3
Row 5: Knit
Repeat rows 4 and 5 until you have a square – approximately 21 rows from your cast on edge.
Knit 3 rows. (approx. 24 rows in total)
Cast off loosely and sew in the yarn tails.
Use your imagination…
** Make 8 more squares like this one, sew them together into a 3 x 3 square and you have a Little Lap Afghan (or a baby blanket!).
** Make a tiny square like the one pictured here (or a rectangle) and stitch it to the square to make a little pocket for those special treasures.
Or try this!
The Crafty (Spotted) Dog’s Mug Hug
Instead of casting off at the end of your first Little Afghan Square, change yarn and start knitting the square again!
When you have knitted the last three ‘knit’ rows of the pattern and before casting off, check if your Mug
Hug will fit around your mug - you may need to knit a couple more rows! – and then make the button hole like this:
· Knit 7, cast off 3, knit 5
· Knit 6, cast on 3, knit 6.
Here’s how to cast on in the middle of a row:
· Knit 3 more rows, then cast off.
Sew your button onto your original cast-on edge so that the Mug Hug fits your mug tightly (no-one likes a loose hug..) and give that mug some love!
